Billy
is a hero - he's our Dog Idol 2008!
Yes, the beautiful Rough Collie is proudly the top dog in the district
after winning our Dog Idol competition.
One-year-old Billy, owned by Chris France of Langford, polled the most
votes out of more than 130 entrants featured here in our online gallery
- and in our special Dog Idol supplement in the Biggleswade Chronicle
last week.
That means Billy wins one year's supply of Pedigree food - a tasty prize
for any canine and we're sure he's licking his chops already!
More than 1,200 votes were received by phone and text before the lines
closed at midnight on Tuesday.
The runner-up wins a dog cleaner courtesy of Sainsbury's - and that goes
to the family of Scooby, a cuddly King Charles Cavalier, aged two, owned
by Tracy Smith of Potton.
We have joint third prizes of £20 each to the next two dogs. They
are ten-year old Basset hound Sophie, owned by Carole Aylott of Arlesey
and Boyce, six, a Jack Russell fox hound cross owned by Debbie Croot of
Biggleswade.

Biggleswade Chronicle and biggleswadetoday editor Jim Stewart said: "We
are delighted with the number of entries for this year's competition.
The contest was tough and it was great to have so many votes.
"We are extremely grateful to Pedigree and Sainsbury's for supporting
Dog Idol 2008."
Please note: The vote result is final and no correspondence will be entered
into.
